Privacy Policy

Effective September 14, 2026

In short: when you sign up on this site, we collect your name, company, email, phone number, how you heard about us, and the type of sign-up (customer, independent operator, or fleet operator) — plus, if you're signing up as a customer, your general location — so we can register you for early access and, only if you say yes, send you product updates. If you use our "Partner With Us" form instead, we collect your company name, contact details, and how you'd like to work with us. We don't sell your information, and you can ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw consent, at any time.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy explains how uTow ("uTow", "we", "us") collects, uses, discloses, and protects the personal information of visitors who sign up through the early-access sign-up form or the "Partner With Us" form on this website, or at a trade show booth. It's written to meet the requirements of Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for the marketing emails we send, Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). If you're located outside Canada, other privacy laws in your region may also give you additional rights, and we intend to honour reasonable requests made under them.

2. Information we collect

When you fill out the sign-up form, we collect:

If you contact us through the "Partner With Us" form instead, we collect your company name, your name, email address, and (optionally) phone number as the contact for that company, how you heard about us (optional), and a free-text description of how you'd like to partner with us — plus whether you agreed to this Privacy Policy, and when.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive categories of personal information (such as health, financial account, or government ID details) through either form, and we ask that you not include any in the free-text fields.

3. Why we collect it

We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.

4. Your consent

Submitting the sign-up form requires you to affirmatively agree to this Privacy Policy — that consent covers our collection, use, and storage of your information as described here. Agreeing to receive marketing emails is a separate, optional checkbox: you can sign up for early access without opting into marketing emails, and you can withdraw either form of consent at any time by emailing us (below) or, for marketing emails, using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.

5. How we store and protect it

Your information is stored in a password-protected database on our web host, accessible only to authorized uTow personnel through a password-protected admin tool. The site is served over HTTPS, so information you submit is encrypted in transit. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable technical and administrative measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, or loss.

6. Where it's stored

Our website and database are hosted with a third-party hosting provider whose servers may be located in the United States or elsewhere outside Canada. If your information is transferred to or stored in another country, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction, including lawful access by that country's authorities.

7. Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share it with:

8. How long we keep it

We keep sign-up information for as long as it's reasonably needed for the purposes described above, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. If you unsubscribe from marketing emails, we keep a minimal record of that choice so we can honour it going forward.

9. Your rights

You can ask us, at any time, to:

To make a request, contact us using the details below. We'll respond within a reasonable time. If you're not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your local data protection authority.

10. Children's privacy

This site is intended for tow operators, businesses, and customers looking for towing services — not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18.

11. Cookies and tracking

This site does not currently use tracking or advertising cookies. If that changes, we'll update this policy to describe what's used and why.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as uTow's product and practices evolve. We'll post the revised version here with a new effective date, and we record which version of this policy each sign-up agreed to.

13. Contact us

Questions, requests, or concerns about your personal information can be sent to founder@utow.ca.
